Review: Take Me As I Am - Erin Lee

One of my favorite edgier authors is Erin Lee, she works as a therapist, and her books reflect her job as she targets the edgy topics that most people are afraid to write about. Take Me As I Am on domestic violence in relationships. Emma Harrison as bounced from one guy to another and always seems to pick the wrong ones, that is until she meets Riley Torres. He seems to be her Prince Charming, but looks can be deceiving as behind doors Riley isn't all he is cracked up to be in fact he is an abuser. He controls Emma and pushes her away from her family. Emma, of course, being the faithful girlfriend believes it's her family in the wrong as no matter what happens Riley loves her and always will. Take Me As I Am an interesting read as it shows from the female POV the way an abusive relationship works as often the female does believe it's her own fault and that the reason it's happening is because she isn't good enough and should be better. The other thing is it is a hard cycle to break free from and there may be times when your relationship is like a ping pong ball going back and forth but with support and help, you can break free eventually.  If you are in the mood for an edgy book that does have a strong focus on Domestic Violence , then check out Erin Lee's Take Me As I Am today.
