Review: Verum - Courtney Cole

Verum (The Nocte Trilogy, #2)

Review: Verum - Book #2 Nocte Series - Courtney Cole - February 2015

For those who read Nocte, you will remember that the book had an edgy side to the story and it turned out that Finn was dead and not visiting the hospital as the readers thought and we learned that the guy Calla meet was in fact her boyfriend Dare prior to the accident. In Verum, Dare thinks it is best that Calla gets away from her family funeral home and they travel to Whitley which was her mother's estate in England. Here Calla will learn about her mother's family and their wealth, seeing as Calla is the last heir to the Whitley fortune by blood as we discover Dare has more than just a boyfriend connection to Calla - don't worry their relationship is not incestuous. Whitley holds alot of dark secrets and memories , which Calla is about to unravel - could being here push her more over the edge than she is already ? As the book goes along, we start to wonder if Calla is in fact the crazy one and that it runs in her family as she is hallucinating, seeing ghosts and hearing things or is it her memory trying to come back in fragmented pieces revealing the things she has blocked out and tried to forget ? We also are revealed more about the accident that occured and the lead-ups and to finish off readers, as I don't want to spoil the story but OMFG - the ending of Verum will leave you going what the.... just happened and WOW what a twist and then if you are like me, you will be sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for Lux to arrive so you can find out about Dare.
If you love Psychological New Adult novels with a twist , then Verum is definitely the read for you.
