The Sisters Club

Review: The Sisters Club - Lauren Baratz -Logsted - August 2015

There once were four women , who felt alone and like they didn't fit in anywhere. We had Sylvia whom ever since her sister Minnie's death - she's been alone , Cindy who works in a lingerie shop and has a deadbeat boyfriend who controls her, Diana who has just moved to America with her new husband and whose family seem to always put her down and Lise who is a professor teaching creative writing courses but really her dream is to publish her own book.  Diana decides one day, that she wants to meet new people so puts up an ad in a local bookshop and therefore meets the other three women. Each want something new in their lives and soon these four women will find themselves relying on each other , entwining themselves in each other's lives and becoming the best of friends through thick and thin, through hospital scares, pregnancies, failed marriages, lost jobs . These women will discover once and for all what it is like to really have a sister who cares for you no matter what and that sometimes the ones who you call "Sisters" do not have to be blood relatives.
This was a good read and is aimed at woman aged 30+ and shows readers and women all around that having a good group of friends can often be better than siblings when it comes to understanding and that friendships like these are ones that will last for years to come.
