Broken Christmas: Three Stories of Christmas

Broken Christmas

David Henderson

This is a collection of three Christmas stories.  There is the story of the homeless “bum” who after encountering 3 young boys at a boarding school finds himself on the path to redemption and that fate sometimes offers us second chances in the most unlikeliest of places.  Then there is young Jimmy who experiences the true magic of Christmas albeit in the most unusual of ways; on Christmas Eve he meets with his absconded jailbird Uncle, is reunited with his lost dog who subsequently gives birth to pups and witnesses his Dad’s most epic firework display even though it goes horribly wrong to declare that it is the best Christmas Eve ever.  Finally, there is the tale of Perry, a serving war soldier living in the horrors of war but finding respite in dreaming of his life and true love Audrey back home.  Desperate to be reunited with her, he slips into his imagination to escape and survive the harshness of war but ultimately where does the dream begin and the reality cease?

What a wonderful set of stories.  Although each one is a separate entity, nevertheless all were linked by the theme of magic which Christmas portends.  The tales were highly unusual, imaginative and very thought provoking reads.  Perfect to be dip into under the soft sparkly lights of the Christmas tree and guaranteed to fill you with the spirit and magic of the festive season.
