Review: Always Forever/ Thorn Abbey - Nancy Ohlin

Review: Always Forever/ Thorn Abbey - Nancy Ohlin - May 2013

Depending on which copy you get , you may have Always Forever or Thorn Abbey but do not be confused as they are the same book. This book has been acclaimed as a modern version of Daphne Du Maurier's book "Rebecca" and as readers of the Phantom Paragrapher know it is that I cannot resist reading a great rendition. Renditions are one of my favourite things to read. This book takes us into the life of Tess who has just received a scholarship to the prestigious boarding school "Thorn Abbey". It is here that she is roomed with Devon and all seems to go well until Tess discovers that six months earlier , a girl who was perfect in every single way and was very popular drowned on a sailing accident and it seems that certain people in the school haven't gotten over it and that the girl known as Becca was Devon's former roommate . As the story evolves, it seems that Becca's ghost or somebody who wants Becca's spirit to stay alive is wanting Tess out and they will do everything in their power. Will Tess survive the school year or will she too find herself next on the list of "deceased students" ?  Always Forever was a ghostly tale that reminded me a bit of the story "Liv, Forever" by Amy Talkington crossed with Paula Morris's "Ruined" series.
If you love ghosts and boarding school novels, then check out "Always Forever / Thorn Abbey" by Nancy Ohlin.
