Review: The Poppet and the Lune- Madeline Claire Franklin- 2011
Have you ever felt that no matter what happens ,that you are different and don't fit in ? Do you remember the tale of the Patchwork girl ?
The Poppet and the Lune tells the story of Elizabeth , a girl who was created by Giselle , the witch of the village as a result of a tragedy that struck one day during their time of thanksgiving. To help lessen the town's tragic feelings and pain of losing their children - the witch gathered up the remaining body parts to create one girl that the town could share. As the time gets on we see the girl shared between the families but it soon comes to light of course that she is not their child and that their children can never be replaced. Elizabeth, feeling hopeless and lonely heads to the Everwood Forest where she meets a variety of characters including Father Time who shares an uncanny personality resemblance to the doctor that created Frankenstein and Wolf aka Faolin. Wolf becomes Elizabeth's only friend and the two of them travel together until it is revealed that Faolin is to become the Wolf King. What will this mean for Elizabeth and his relationship ? Will Wolf become king of the Pack? Will The Patchwork girl find love and a purpose in her world?
The Poppet and the Lune is a lovely and easy to read story that will be appropiate for Tweens aged 12+ and for those older who love to read Renditions of Fairytales -The Poppet and the Lune by Madeline Claire Franklin is one to add to your TBR Pile.
