Jeannie Out of the Bottle
Review: Jeannie Out of a Bottle- Barbara Eden and Wendy Leigh - April 2011
Have you watched the hit TV show "I Dream of Jeannie" featuring Barbara Eden as the gorgeous Jeannie who if we translate stands for Genie ? Her trademark blonde hair and her beautiful pink outfits ? By the time I was old enough to actually watch TV and remember what I was watching, I was watching re-runs of I dream of Jeannie and I loved it to bits.  Jeannie out of a Bottle takes us through the life of Barbara Eden , through the ups and downs of her career . The lives of her happy flings which included Paul Newman , Elvis Presley, Clint Eastwood -just to name a few but as we watch celebrities doing their things, it tends to hide the bad of Hollywood - the world that many unfortunately celebrites succumb too - the life of pressure that fame and popularity brings with it. Barbara Eden has revealed in this biography to Wendy Leigh , an intimate and heartbreaking tale of what her life was like off-camera - the heartbreaking loss of a still-born birth , her divorces , a verbally-abusive second husband , drug fuelled problems , the death of her mother and lastly the death of her surviving son who passed from a drug overdose just months before he was to be married.
We marvel as we read Barbara Eden's biography "Jeannie out of the Bottle" , to see that no matter what has happened in her life, the bad and the ugly. She has maintained an outlook which only brings light to her character and shows how amazing she is as a person - a person with optimism and a sense of wonderful humour-which they do say is "the best medicine".
"Jeannie out of the Bottle" is the perfect read for those fans of Celebrity Biographies and all those who grew up glued to the soapbox watching Barbara Eden do "her thing" as Jeannie on hit TV Show "I Dream of Jeannie".
